Managing expectations

Everyone experiences things differently. Talking to others about their experiences and trying to learn from them can be useful, but also deceptive.
Especially regarding breastfeeding and baby’s sleep a lot of mothers I have coached were suffering from misconceptions they had after hearing the stories of other parents but also of talking to health professionals. Society puts  a lot of pressure on women and maybe even more on postpartum mothers. The image which is presented to us on social media but also in magazines or on tv, is of mums who are back to their pre-pregnancy body in no time and even walk the catwalk six weeks after giving birth. We are seeing politicians or businesswomen who breastfeed their newborns while giving an important talk or closing a big deal. Perfectly groomed beauties who are sipping a latte, while their baby is sleeping next to them, peacefully in the hippest pram.
